Dossin Museum - Mechelen
The challenge
Finding an aggregate that fitted perfectly in the surroundings without attracting to much attention.
Finding an aggregate that fitted perfectly in the surroundings without attracting to much attention.
A light yellow-beige aggregate was presented as a decorative aggregate. The soft colour of the aggregates doesn’t draw the attention away from the old Dossin building and the new Dossin Museum. However, this aggregate didn’t have the correct physical characteristics for use in the in situ cast concrete for the road passing through both buildings. A second aggregate (a mix of broken and natural rounded quartz) was presented. By using the orange, yellow and white coloured aggregate the concrete blends in smoothly.
