Office SIAT - Vilvoorde

An airplane that has landed in a densely planted plantation, that's what Stéphane Beel Architects envisioned when designing an office building and warehouse for the SIAT nv rubber and oil extraction company. The outer skin consists of polished aluminum sheets. Inside, white sets the tone: white concrete, white plastered walls and white felt ceilings. It took Inter-Beton and CBR no less than two years to find the right nuance of white concrete. We were there to help.

The challenge

A mix of aggregates from 0-30 mm was required to obtain a white terrazzo floor with pure white and semi transparent white accents

What we did

Numureous samples were provided in order to find the right mix between white and transparant accents. The desired result was obtained by using pure white dolomite as the bigger aggregate in the mix and the sand and smaller aggregate size from a semi transparant white marble.
